Dhaka, 07 December: UN Library Network in Bangladesh (UN L-Net BD) of UNIC Dhaka and icddr,b Library jointly organized a half-day workshop on ‘Post-2015 Development Agenda’ and ‘E-Information Resources: Where are we’ at icddr,b conference room on 7 December 2013. A total of 40 library and information experts took part in the workshop. UNIC OIC Kazi Ali Reza was the chief guest in the inaugural session while UNIC KMO & Member Secretary of UN Library Network M. Moniruzzaman moderated the workshop. Two papers were presented in the workshop. Kazi Ali Reza presented a paper on ‘Post-2015 Development Agenda’. Another paper on ‘E-information Resourcces: Where are we’ was jointly presented by Sr. Manager of icddr,b Library Dr. Md. Nazimuddin, UNIC Knowledge Management Officer M. Moniruzzaman and Independent University Librarian Hossam Haider Chowdhury.

Seminar on Int’l Volunteer Day 2013
Dhaka, 6 December: In observance of International Volunteer Day, UNIC Dhaka and Daffodil Int’l University (DIU) jointly organized a seminar at DIU auditorium on 6 December 2013. Social Activist Syed Abul Maksud spoke on the occasion as chief guest. UNIC Officer-in-Charge Kazi Ali Reza presented the key-note paper while Prof Aminul Islam of DIU presided over. UNIC KMO M. Moniruzzaman delivered introductory speech and readout the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s Message on the Day. The message was distributed among the participants. UNIC Dhaka and DIU jointly opened a year-long voluntary campaign for 2014. A DIU Voluntary Club was also formally launched after the seminar. Around 250 students including few volunteers took part in the seminar.
UN Day Seminar and Cultural Show 2013
Dhaka, 24 October: UNCT organized the UN Day observance through a seminar and cultural programme. Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni, MP was the chief guest while Dr Thushara E.I. FernandoUNRC ai, presided over the function. A renowned literary personality of Bangladesh Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed attended the function as the Special guest. UNIC OIC Kazi Reza presented a paper focusing on the national theme of the observance this year – Youth for Development: Perspective Bangladesh. A youth representative also spoke on the occasion. More than 1000 UN staff, senior government officials, diplomats, youth representatives, university students, civil society representatives attended the function. The seminar was followed by a cultural programme. UNIC Dhaka provided UN Communication Group secretariat services in organizing the event.
Round-table Discussion on UN Day and UN4U
Dhaka, 24 October: UNIC Dhaka organized a round-table seminar at UNIC meeting room, on 24 October 2013, to mark the UN Day. Youth representatives from different universities took part in the event. A UN4U video and UN Secretary-General’s video message on UN Day were screened before a group of 30 young audience. UNIC Officer-in-Charge Kazi Ali Reza delivered a lecture on UN issues and activities. The students also took part in a Q&A session. The event was anchored by UNIC Knowledge Management Officer M. Moniruzzaman.
