Model UN Conference at University of Liberal Arts (ULAB)

7 April, 2018: In partnership with United Nations and with the knowledge support of UNIC Dhaka, University of Liberal Arts (ULAB) Model UN Club organized a two-day long Model UN Conference during 5 to 6 April at University auditorium. The theme of the conference was – “Public and Private Partnership for Sustainable Development”. In the closing ceremony, Mr. Nasrul Hamid, MP Hon’ble State Minister for Power, Energy & Mineral Resources spoke as chief guest. Among others, Vice-Chancellor of ULAB, Publisher of Daily Dhaka Tribune and President of UNYSAB spoke on the occasion. In his speech, the Hon’ble State Minister emphasized on the progress of Sustainable Development Goal-7 affordable and clean energy in the context of Bangladesh and urged the delegates to share their thoughts about the necessity of private-public partnership in Bangladesh. There were five committees in the conference.  A total of 200 delegates from different educational institutions took part in the conference. UNIC provided with UN educational and promotional materials to all delegates. UNIC NIO spoke on importance MUN to enhance leadership quality and to develop communication skill. He also spoke about the ongoing UN Peacekeeping Campaign.

UNRC emphasized on youth empowerment at Dhaka University Model United Nations

In cooperation with United Nations and strategic support of UNIC, Dhaka University Model United Nations Association (DUMUNA) organized a four-day long Dhaka University National Model United Nations (DUNMUN) conference at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban at Dhaka University during 18- 21 December 2017. In closing ceremony, Mr. Nasrul Hamid, MP Hon’ble State Minister for Power, Energy & Mineral Resources graced the occasion as chief guest while Ms. Mia Seppo, UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh and Ambassador Fafooq Sobhan spoke as special guests. In his speech, the Hon’ble Minister focuses on various developmental aspects of Bangladesh and took part in Q/A with delegates. UNRC in her speech highlights a number of important issues including SDGs, Migration, Urbanization, Climate change, Rohingya, Human rights, Youth development and UN reform. Around 450 delegates from different educational institutions took part in the four day long MUN conference. The DUNMUN inaugurated on 18 December where Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr. Nasreen Ahmad was present as chief guest. Mr Nahim Razzak, Hon’ble MP and member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Youth & Sports, and UNDP Country Director Mr Sudipto Mukerjee spoke as special guests. DUMUNA Moderator Prof Delwar Hossain, DUNMUN Secretary-General and UNIC NIO appreciated the organizers and delegates for their active participation.

Model UN Conference 2016 in Rajshahi University

untitled-1  Rajshahi, Thursday, 29 September 2016: With the partnership of UNIC Dhaka, UN Youth and Student Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB) organized a four-day long Model UN Conference 2016 in Rajshahi University during 29 Sep to 2 Oct 2016. More than 300 delegates from different educational institutions took part in the UN simulation.  The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Md Mizanur Rahman, Associate Professor and Student Adviser of Rajshahi University, M. Moniruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of UNIC Dhaka and former Student Adviser Prof Md. Sadequl Arephin Matin while UNYSAB President Mamun Mia chaired the session. UNIC Officer-in-Charge has urged the young leaders to come forward to play their role in achieving SDGs, he said, the youth leaders have the opportunity to contribute in building nations. Model UN Conference – BANMUN 2016 concludes in Dhaka

Untitled-1Dhaka, Saturday, 16 July 2016: With the collaboration of UNIC Dhaka, UN Youth and Student Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB) organized a for-day long Bangladesh Model United Nations (BANMUN 2016) Conference at Adamjee Cantonment College Auditorium during 13 to 16 July 2016. More than 650 delegates from different educational institutions took part in the UN simulation.  The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Honourable MP Advocate Sanjida Khanam as chief guest while M. Moniruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of UNIC Dhaka spoke as guest of honour. Model United Nations Conference held at Rajshahi University

RU MUNRajshahi, 7 September 2015: With the strategic partnership of UNIC Dhaka, UN Youth and Student Association Bangladesh (UNYSAB) organized a Model United Nations Conference in Rajshahi University during 4 to 7 September 2015. A total number of 410 delegates from different educational institutions took part in this event. The State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Shahriar Alam, MP graced the opening session as chief guest while Pro Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University Professor Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan and UNIC Officer-in-Charge M. Moniruzzaman spoke as special guests. Among others, Prof Sadequl Aferin Matin of Rajshahi University and UNYSAB President Mamun Mia spoke in the inaugural session. All the delegates were provided with UN publications.

Model UN Conference (JMUN) held at Jahangirnagar University

JMUNSavar, 29 August 2015: In collaboration with UNIC Dhaka, Jahangirnagar University Model United Nations Association (JUMUNA) has organized its first ever Model United Nations Conference with the theme: “Stop fighting, lets negotiate” from 27 to 29 August 2015 in the university auditorium. More than 250 delegates from different educational institutions took part in the programme. The entire programme simulated six different committees: SAARC, International press, The World Bank, UNESCO, UNSC, GA-6. The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Farzana Islam, Vice Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University while M. Moniruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge, UNIC Dhaka spoke as special guest. Among others, Mohammad Tariqul Islam, Lecturer, Department of Government and Politics, Md. Jannatul Habib, Lecturer Department of International Relations and the Secretary-General of JMUN, Md. Rayajul Karim spoke on the occasion.

Bangladesh Model United Nations Conference Organized

BANMUNDhaka, 1 August 2015: In observance of 70th Anniversary of the United Nations, UN Youth and Student Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB) with the strategic partnership of UNIC Dhaka, has organized a four-day long Model UN Conference, named ‘Bangladesh Model United Nations’ at Adamjee Cantonment College during 29 July – 1 August 2015. A total of 573 delegates from 100 different educational institutions took part in the UN simulation. The State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Shahriar Alam, MP spoke in the opening session as cheif guest while Nahim Razzak, MP, UNIC Officer-in-Charge M. Moniruzzaman, Brigadier General Tameem Ahmed Chowdhury, Principal of Adamjee Cantonment College were present as special guests. In the closing day, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Mr. Nasrul Hamid, MP spoke as chief guest while Mika Kanervavuori, Human Rights Advisor, UNRC Office and M. Moniruzzaman were present as special guests.  A total of 11 resolutions were passed by 10 different committees. UNIC Dhaka provided each of the delegates with UN publications.

Empowering Youth for Sustainable Development: A four-day long Dhaka University National Model UN (DUNMUN) Conference organized

UNRC, a.iA four-day long Dhaka University National Model UN (DUNMUN) Conference inaugurated at Dhaka University Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on 21 December 2014. The DUNMUN 2014 was organized by Dhaka University Model UN Association (DUMUNA) in cooperation with UNIC Dhaka, Action Aid and East Asia Study Center.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the conference as chief guest while Ms Argentina Matavel Piccin, UN Resident Coordinator, a.i and UNFPA Representative spoke as guest of honour. Among others, DUMUNA Moderator Prof Dr Delwar Hossain, Mr Chen Chuang, Counselor of Cultural Affairs of Chinese Embassy, DUNMUN Secretary-General M. J. Shohel, UNYSAB President Md. Mamun Mia and UNIC Officer-in-Charge M. Moniruzzaman spoke in the inaugural session. Mr Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, Director (UN), Ministry of Foreign Affairs was the chief guest in the closing ceremony. Three were ten Committees in the model UN sessions. The main theme was ‘Empowering Youth for Sustainable Development’.
