Dhaka, 15 March 2017, Wednesday at 12.00 noon: A moment of silence for the people of Syria arranged by UN offices around the globe including Bangladesh. Staff members of UNIC Dhaka, UNAIDS, UN Dispensary and other support staff observed a moment silence on the occasion of six years of brutal war in Syria, with no end in sight . Our goal is taking this collective action is to give voice to those silenced by the conflict and to send a message to Member States and world leaders that we must put an end to the carnage now. UNDP Bangladesh and other UN Agencies also observed it in separate locations. Photos of Syrian children are displayed here.

UNIC Dhaka Celebrates of International Women’s Day
In observance of International Women’s Day, UNIC Dhaka jointly with Shoheed Titumir Academy in Manikgonj organized a discussion seminar at the school auditorium on 8 march 2017. The Headmaster of the school presided over the seminar. UNIC National Information Officer was the key note speaker while Ms Monowara Sarker- Former Director of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society spoke as guest of honour.The student took part in a question-answer session. More than one hundred students including UNIC staff members and teachers took part in it. UNIC Bangla publication was distributed among the students.

TOGETHER Campaign in Manikgonj District
UNIC Dhaka and Manikgonj Government Mohila College jointly organized an interactive discussion seminar on Together campaign at the College Auditorium on 8 March 2017. Mr Mahmud Hassan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Public Administration, GoB graced the occasion as Chief Guest while Ms Rashida Ferdous, DC of Manikgonj district spoke as Guest of Honour. Among others Ms Monowara Sarker- Former Director of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, and Mr Bashiur Ahmed, Principal of the College spoke on the occasion. UNIC Officer-in-Charge M. Moniruzzaman delivered the key-note speech highlighting the background of Together campaign including GFMD Summit in Dhaka and Migration Summit in New York. DC of Manikgonj spoke about the development process and role of women in different sectors. More than one hundred participants of the college took part in the discussion programme. All the participants were provided with a Special Bangla Flyer on TOGETHER, published by UNIC Dhaka. A number of teachers and UNIC staff members were also present in the programme.
