Dhaka University Model UN Association (DUMUNA) in collaboration with UNIC Dhaka organized a four-day long National Model UN conference during 17-20 September 2013 at Dhaka University Senate Bhaban. The Vice-Chancellor of University of Dhaka Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the conference as chief guest while DUMUNA President Fayez Ahmed chaired the session. The Vice-Chancellor of North South University Amin U Sarker and OIC of UNIC Dhaka Kazi Ali Reza spoke as special guests. The former President of DUMUNA Mamun Mia also spoke on the occasion. Prof Dr Delwar Hossain, Moderator of DUMUNA delivered a video message on the occasion. A total of 421 students from 36 college/Universities took part in the Model UN session. There were 8 resolutions passed from 8 GA committees. In the concluding session Treasurer of Dhaka University Prof Kamal Uddin attended as chief guest. Mr Nick Beresford, UNDP Deputy Country Director, Dr. Ainun Nishat, VC of BRAC University, Prof Dalem Chandra Barman, VC of ASA Bangladesh University and Kazi Ali Reza, UNIC OIC spoke as guests of honour. Two special plenary sessions entitled “Meet the Diplomats” were organized to enable the participants to know the experiences of real-life diplomacy from two former Ambassadors of Bangladesh – Mr Ashfaqur Rahman and Mr Jamil Majid. The Centre OIC moderated both the sessions. UNIC Knowledge Management Officer M. Moniruzzaman attended two committee meetings as guest chair. UNIC Dhaka provided the participants (delegates) with a set of UN information materials.
