COP23 refers to the 23rd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In 1992 at the Rio Earth Summit, UNFCCC was endorsed, signifying the beginning of the international community’s foremost collaborative effort to combat the issue of climate change. The UNFCCC, recognized also as the Rio Convention, inaugurated a basis for action to stabilize concentrations of greenhouse gases in the earth’s atmosphere. In 1994, the UNFCCC was enforced and nearly all of the world’s nations (195) have signed on. Government delegates and leaders congregated in Bonn, Germany for the 2017 UN Climate Change Conference. Under the Presidency of Fiji with the support of Germany, UN Climate Change will host this annual meeting. COP23 is taking place in Bonn, Germany, from the 6-17 November.
