“Equality for women means progress for all” – Seminar and Open Speech Contest on Int’l Women’s Day, 9 March 2014

Dhaka, 9 March: In order to create awareness among the young people about achieving of women equalty, UNIC Dhaka, United Nations Youth and Student Association Bangladesh (UNYSAB) and Dhaka University Model United Nations Association jointly organized a discussion and extemporary speech contest on Int’l Women’s Day on 9 March 2014 at UNIC library. Partnerships Officer of UNRC Office Ms Danielle Naranzilla was the chief guest while UNIC KMO M. Moniruzzaman moderated the programme. He delivered an introductory speech and read-out UN SG’s translated Bangla Message on the Day. Mr. Mamun Mia President of UNYSAB spoke on the occasion as a special guest. The contestants focused on the issues of domestic violence, women’s equality, women’s empowerment and progress for all. A panel of judges selected best four speakers. Prizes were distributed among the winners. Roses were given to all the participants, guests and supporting staff as a souvenir of Int’l Women’s Day.
